Maria Gonzales, 10 year old, dark brown 12 inches of her hair donated to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces for disadvantaged children. Maria Gonzales, a grade six student at Mary’s Catholic School, with summer break cut ties by making a hairy donation to charity. She found on the Internet and decided to donate it when her best friend at school had talked about it school last year.

The Lake Worth, Fla. a non-profit to provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children below age 18 suffering from hair loss from any diagnosis. Maria said that she opes her donation will put a smile on someone’s face, shorn Aug 7 at Tangles Hair Salon and Art Gallery in Alton.

Christl Gonzales Klockenkemper takes pride in her daughter’s decision. She said that it’s a good way for kids, will help build confidence that don’t have hair, do a lot of things to give back something absolutely cost nothing. She said that another girl would be really happy to know that someone out there cares. She is very happy for her daughter by giving donation to Locks of Love.

U.S. Food and Drug Administration recalled the liquid supplement is one of more than 12 supplements. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that users of the supplement suffered hair loss and fingernails, as well as joint pain, nausea, and diarrhea among other symptoms.

It contained excessive amounts of the mineral selenium and chromium of some batches of Total Body Formula and Total Body Mega Formula.

Selenium is an essential trace mineral. It activates an antioxidant enzyme called glutathione peroxidase, is only needed in small amounts for good health, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) said, and too much of it can cause the symptoms listed above.

Chromium, also a trace mineral. It is used to make stainless steel, and as a color in glass. Can be harmful to humans if breathed in. It can cause anemia, kidney failure and liver damage if too much is ingested.

The company or pharmacy now faces lawsuits from former customer who suffered hair loss and other symptoms or who allege they were poisoned by the product and face long term side effect.

In March, the FDA warned consumers in all states about the link between dietary supplement and adverse side effects including “significant hair loss” after other people suffered “serious reactions” within 7 to 10 days of ingesting the liquid supplements.

British - actor Danny Dyer has threatened to sue bosses at a TV channel in U.K. (U.K. TV channel) for his rapid hair loss. Producers in Channel 4 told the star to dye his dark hair a lighter, reddish shade for his role in the 2006 soccer drama All In The Game. Dyer now claims his hair has been falling out in patches and blames the ginger hair dye. “I couldn’t get it out of my hair. It took me six months. I couldn’t f**king get it out. I kept washing it.
“I think I started losing my wig after that. I’m receding a bit, but it only started after I dyed it. If the worst comes to the worst, I’ll sue.
“It’s down to Channel 4 I’m losing my (hair)”, Danny Dyer said.

A charity that provides wigs to financially disadvantaged children suffering from medical hair loss, Daniel Melando’s haircut was well worth the wait for “Locks of Love”.

A sophomore year (Daniel Melando) at Bayonne High School, hadn’t gotten his hair cut in four years. But yesterday, the 16 year old sat down in a chair at Showcase Hair Design on Broadway in Bayonne and heard an unfamiliar sound - “snip, snip, snip”.

His two (2) 8-inch ponytails were now history and donated for a great cause. It’s better than just throwing it out. His mother, Cathy Melando said “Daniel’s action is especially significant because his grandmother died of complications from breast cancer in 2002. I’m really proud of him. It kind of touched us personally”.

Veronique Pinto started sending her clients’ hair to Locks of Love after reading about a burn victim who benefited from a Locks of Love wig. Veronique Pinto, who has worked at Showcase for about four years. Veronique said “When I saw it, it just moved me. It’s a good cause and it’s better than throwing the hair away. We get a lot of people donating. Last year showcase sent about 20 ponytails to the charity and has already sent more than 10 since January”.
