A new gel has been developed to protect and prevent hair loss and treatment for cancer from damaging to the scalp.

Current products marketed to prevent hair loss include ice caps or packs, however are not always effective.

The gel currently based on a mixture of compounds, being tested by Mitos Pharmaceuticals including antioxidants to help protect the healthy hair follicles from being destroyed by the treatment.

The gel is being studied as a topical agent to prevent radiation damage to other skin areas.
