Hannah was diagnosed with tumors on her spine in a form of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma. Hannah said “It’s kind of a shocker. You can never think of you’ as having cancer. It’s always someone else”. The Children with Hair Loss Organization will provide Hannah a free wig immediately while her custom wig is being made.
The Sparta United Methodist Church raised the $1,100 needed to make the custom wig, said Kristen Myers, Chloe’s mother. Chloe’s fellow Junior National Honor Society Members are also doing fund raising. Sharon Potter, who owns Salon Nouveau said “I’ve never seen those children that young pull together in this manner for the sake of a good friend. Thses kids love her”. Potter is the Grand Rapids area coordinator for Children with Hair Loss. Potter said she would like to help or train other stylist in what she sees as rewarding work.
Roger DeHaan, father of Hannah said “The amount of support is unbelievable, not only Saturday but the last two weeks at Devos Children’s Hospital”. But for now, Hannah looks good and feels good.
Tony Myers gave the DeHaans a hug as continuing the hair styling. Roger DeHaan said “The hard part is finding a way to thank everybody to those who help with Hannah. It’s not about paying everybody back but people are doing this for Hannah”.
