We picked up any blow dryer and aimed it our hair. The scientists and beauty industry are always looking for more efficient and safer ways for us to style our hair. Some of the terms are listed here and how they may affect the choice of blow dryer, curling iron or flat iron. Sometimes we find some new and confusing words on the packaging.
* Ionic Dryer or Ion-Emitting Dryer
Ionizing the air with negative ions helps to break down the water particles in wet hair. Reducing the drying time up to 60% to become smaller droplets that can dried faster. Older dryers used AC motors because these motors lasted longer. The fan turned faster when dryers were noisier. New Dryers use ionized air, they can use DC motors that are quieter, lighter in weight, fan turns slower and the motors last longer it’s because of less wear and tear.
* EMF or Electromagntic Frequency
EMF means Electromagntic Frequency. Blow dryers use the lowest EMF to project ions, for quick drying instead of boiling them through break down the water molecules.
* Ceramic
o Blow dryers: Hair dryers of Ceramic heating elements heat quickly and lighter weight than the older one of metal coils.
o Irons: Ceramic, a non-metallic coating that used to new curling irons and flat irons. It can be heated instantly, procues and even constant heat.
* Infrared
Infrared, heat warms the hair from the inside out causing less damage surface. The heat is distributed making it easier and faster to hair straighten.
* Nano
Nano or Nanotechnology is the nanoscience technology, meaning very small particles. Nano small ions transfer the heat quickly, creating shine and eliminating static.
* Ozone
Ozone, a gas which is a variety of oxygen, consist of three oxygen molecules. Improve the health of the hair, hold color longer and eliminate frizz with used in some blow dryers to shorten the drynig time.
* PTFC Heater
PTFC produces infrared ions. This was created by NASA and now is used in some flat irons. It produces an even heat that precise in temperature control and very efficient.
* Titanium
Titanium is a light weight metal that is durable and scratch resistant, it produces an even distribution of heat, reduces adds shine and static.
* Tourmaline
Tourmaline is a semi-precious gem, a natural source of negative ions and far infrared rays.
