On Sept. 28, a new do for a person in need through a hair drive Locks of Love in Indian Head Park. The Gi’Ara Hair Studio, 6972 Wolf Road, will host the drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. which to collect hair to turn into wigs for children who suffer from hair loss.

Gina Arakelian, owner of salon said all of the haircuts are complimentary for anyone willing to donate their 10 inches hair or more of their hair. The hair to be sent in Florida Locks of Love headquarters where it sorted out then sent to a manufacturer to produce a wigs.

Lauren Kukkamaa, Locks of Love spokesperson said “We are very much a word of mouth organization and that salon support helps”.

Locks of Love is a non-profit organization to help children who suffer hair loss, to provide a hair pieces to children in United States and Canada under age 18 from long term medical hair loss and are financially disadvantaged. Kukkamaa said the organization works with families through the wig application process in one on one.

Requirements for donation:
- colored or permed hair
- hair to be cut in a braid or ponytail

It just needs to be mailed off and usually it takes about four months to begin the hair making process.
