Follica Inc. fights baldness for male and female pattern. They decided to develop a treatments for hair loss in men and women, in a second round of venture financing has nailed down $11 million.

The series B round is led of Polaris Venture Partners. Existing investors such as InterWest Partners and PureTech Ventures also participated.

Last January 2008, Follica raised $5.1 million in a first round of venture financing. Follica, based in Boston, believes a form of male and female pattern baldness can treat through technology against Androgenetic Alopecia.

Follica was co-founded by PureTech and group of academic dermatologists from Harvard University, University of California, San Francisco and the University of Pennsylvania. The technology is licensed from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
