The Standford University announced the discovery of a molecules in mouse embryos that could be used to treat hair loss and triggers hair growth. The molecule known as Laminin 511 which signals embryonic stem cells in the skin to start growing hair. The study of the molecules identifies a key signaling molecule to start the hair-growing cycle and tells hair follicles.
Jing Gao, P.D (Post doctoral) Scholar in epithelial biology said “Now we have a signal protein that can support the microenvironment for hair development, and maybe also for hair renewal”.
Laminin-511 an extracellular matrix protein, made hair grow during an embryonic stage of development as equivalent to the eight month of human pregnancy. Marinkovich said “Cancer chemotherapy patients might be good candidates for testing Laminin-511’s ability to regenerate hair”.

Sonic hedgehog a signal protein that the study showed was activated by Laminin-511, has ability to encourage hair regrowth in chemotherapy patients, , a hint that Laminin-511 might help reverse thyroid hair loss/chemotherapy hair loss.
Scientists would like to put the findings to work and see the the results for hair loss cures. A lot of different causes of hair loss but there is another technique to promote hair growth by Injecting Laminin-511 into the skin.
