Medical Hair Restoration

Medical Hair Restoration can not always promise the creation of new hairs on a man’s scalp. Some men, the products approved by the Food and Drug Administration or FDA to offer a way to achieved hair restoration. Any new hair growth products brought on by use unapproved products is not of a permanent nature. Only medical hair restoration can give a man in a permanent hair in the head. The type of restoration does not depend on the use of hair restoration products it involves the replacement surgery such as providing those with bare spots on the scalp, the only way to obtain a permanent replacement for lost hair.

Medical Hair Restoration involves the man’s hair redistribution. A man interested to undergo medical hair restoration should have sections where there is thick hair growth. Mostly men, those sections are on the sides of head or the back of the scalp. If man agreed to undergo process of hair restoration medically, he should understand the series of guides or steps that are part of a complete hair restoration.

The first step, the preparations of scalp. The scalp must be cleaned. Only in that area can do an aseptic restoration be performed.

The next step, small needles are used to anesthetize with two different sections of the scalp. One section with thick hair and another one without any hair. Then, a Section of hair and scap is removed from the area with thick hair.

One of those technicians dissects out from the scalp individuals hair. That dissection needs to be done under a microscope. Cut out each of the hairs with the use of single blade knife. The patients must feel another series of needles. Those needles preparing a new section of the patient’s scalp, the one into new hair will be transplanted. Each section of bare scalp has received a set of transplanted hairs when a medical hair restoration is completed. The patient can visits to the same office in order to receive a complete treatment.

A patient with lupus, and resulting in hair loss with a head injury want such a restoration for a good candidate for medical hair restoration.

Hair Loss and Hair Growth Tracking Imaging Technology

CSIRO’s Biotech Imaging team has developed imaging technology to measure the hair on different parts of the human body. Imaging technology is a math-based to count the hair. CSIRO’s Biotech Imaging team, specialize in developing software to analyze images automatically, worked with a personal care products in UK company to find a way to objectively test how well their hair removal products work in the area. Hair counting is done manually by the human assessors.

Dr. Pascal Valloton, Leader of Biotech Imaging at CSIRO said “Our software uses images captured by a small flatbed scanner pressed onto the skin. The software crunches the numbers to analyze the image of skin and hairs”. As the result, it reports information about the length and number of hairs in the picture. You can compare the results with previous and earlier images to see if hair is growing quickly or slowly or even has been properly removed by.

Linear Feature is the language of image analysis. There are lots of detecting linear features but this kind of software uses algorithms that exploit some special things about hairs such as straightness.

Dr Vallotton said The software can even detect hairs. Hairs that people find hard to see and event it’s not confused by variations of skin color or texture background.

The software uses are similar to those developed by the team for medical research to measure the branch of structure of nerve cells and to find the boundaries of fat cells.

Swimmers hair loss and irritiation problem

Team members told the Hatchet that last week the members of GW swim teams reported hair loss and severe itching after a mechanical glitch which created a chemical imbalance in the Smith Center Swimming Pool.

Kirk Southworth, a Service Coordinator for Winkler Pool Management which monitors pool equipment for the University said it’s began on Oct. 21, chemical imbalance in the pool were caused by a “glitch in the monitoring system”. One swimmer said his teammates had lost about 70% of their body hair. The athlete too said he “could hardly taste my breakfast” on Oct. 22 after feeling cotton-mouthed from the past day’s practice.

The swimmer said “I don’t want to sound insensitive, but I look like a chemo patient.” swimmer added “It’s embarrassing: being in class with splotchy hair and having to constantly scratch yourself”. Another swimmer said he lost all of his arm hair and the hair on his teammates’ heads hair color changed and became thinner.

Southworth said last week PH levels were “low end and high end of what is acceptable”. He said chlorine levels were high but decline to tell or specify how high, only that it was “never dangerous”.

Robert Brodell, a Professor of Internal Medicine of dermatology section at Northeastern Ohio Universities’ College of Medicine said that hair loss is inconsistent with chlorine overexposure and high or low pH levels.

Brodell said “Tell you honestly, I have not seen or heard of hair loss in that situation who is unaffiliated with the GW incident. But we can’t close our yes to the obvious. If the whole team all lost their hair at the same time these fluctuations happened, there must be some explanation, but I honestly wouldn’t have predicted it”.

Southworth said “There were a lot of things that happened threw the chemical levels way out of whack in a short period of time”. Swimmers have reported in as much as possible in their condition since Monday.

Mary Jo Warner, Assistant Director of Athletics and head swim coach Dan Rhineheart both referred comment to Wilson. Jason Wilson, an assistant athletic director and facilities manager for the Smith Center said he had not been aware of the problem until on the next day (Tuesday night). Wilson emphasized that small fluctuations in chemical levels occur regularly, but one player said this was not a small fluctuations.

The swimmer said “I am thankfull the administration took notice of the problem. I hope there can be an open dialogue on this problem in the future.”

Hair Loss Drug removes from WADA’s banned list

The popular hair loss drug use as a masking agent for its parallel for other banned substances has been taken off the WADA or World Anti-Doping Agency’s banned list, according to WADA said Monday.

Finasteride, prescribed as to slow the process of hair loss, has been removed from WADA’s 2009 banned list because the scientists can now more easily detect the drugs it can be used to masks. But it was added to the banned list in 2005 after research at Cologne, German Laboratory revealed that it can mask the use of certain steroids like Nandrolone.

Olivier Rabin, a WADA’s Chief of Medical Research said “science did not allow laboratories to reliably circumvent the masking properties of finasteride and other alpha reductive inhibitors. The masking effect of alpha reductive inhibitors remains. However following recent advances in anti-doping science, anti-doping laboratories have now been able to render it ineffective through close consideration of steroid profiles”.

As the result WADA agreed that the class of substances can now be removed from the List starting on January 1, 2009. In the past four years, almost a dozen athletes have tested positive for finasteride, whom possessed a Therapeutic Use Exemption from the medical authorities that would have allowed them the sanctions to escape.

Last 2007, Romario a Brizilian footballer was banned 120 days because for testing positive finasteride. He claimed he had taken the drug to preven hair loss.
